Bespoke Surfboards,  Made By You.

One to one boardbuilding lessons

Based on the North Cornish coast, LoveFoam is a complete boardbuilding course with personal tuition through every part of the process. From raw blank, to finished ride. It doesn't matter if you are a complete novice or a backyard tinkerer. Our aim is to make sure you not only know what to do but why you are doing it too.

The course runs at approximatley 25hrs and we can fit that around you. Most do it over 5 days (and this is certainly the easiest way) but whatever your time constraints we can generally find a schedule to suit.

Before you arrive we'll already have had a natter to work out roughly what it is you want to make and after the obligatory hot beverage we'll be ready to start turning it into a reality.

You will design a template, cut, plane and foil the blank, tweak, refine and finally sign your creation ready for the next stage....

....Glassing.

We'll go through the different techniques and materials, prep your shaped blank and get gunking.

Time can really be against you here but we use an ultraviolet catalyst and a UV box (oh, alright it's a sunbed with a glassing stand underneath) so the resin only kicks when we want it to.
Want to spend an hour refining your squeegy technique or getting that decal properly wetted out? Not a problem. Massive congealed lumps of goo need not apply.

You will laminate the board, do decals, sanding coats, fin plugs or glass-ons, tints, loops, not to mention even more tea drinking before moving onto the third stage....

....Finishing.

This is the third and final stage but also the most overlooked. The difference between an OK board and a great board is in the final push. After all the sea doesn't care about that amazing acid tint you did, it just needs the smooth lines you originally shaped to shine.

Sanding, tidying, speedcoating and a final buff though and all your new board needs now is....

....get out there and RIDE!*

*some wax might help of course ;)

If all that sounds a bit complicated....
